Who Am I?

Hello, my name is Vicente Aguilar, I am 22 years old, I currently live in Santiago de Chile and I am studying Journalism at the University of Chile. Most of my life I have lived in the south of Chile, wandering between the Bio Bio region and La Araucanía. Coming to study in Santiago has been quite hard, since due to family problems I have to constantly return to the south to help my family and this means that I cannot give 100% at the University, nor enjoy my new city as I would like, but I know that this will change.

I was born on June 15, 2000 in the city of Cañete, which is located 80km from Tirúa, a small town in the Bio Bio region, where I studied until the eighth grade and where I believe I formed my personality and various interests such as music, photography and where I was also able to work at a young age in various trades such as fishing, shellfish gathering, forestry work and construction.

I have always felt that Tirúa shares the title of my hometown with another town in the south called Purén, which is another small town found in the Araucanía region. My father, my grandparents and all my paternal family live here, which is why most of my childhood was spent between Tirúa and Purén. Fact that allowed me to meet many people in both places and have different perspectives on life just by traveling to another commune.

All my basic education I studied in Tirúa where the conditions of my school were not the most optimal, but that in the same way they served me to learn. I did my secondary education in Cañete, which is a city that is 80km from Tirúa and 60km from Purén. I have beautiful memories in Cañete because there I met friends who are with me to this day and who encouraged me to sing and play the guitar, my greatest passions in life.

Today my city is Santiago and here I have also met wonderful people, with whom I share different tastes and with whom I hope to maintain lifelong friendships.
